ENOC – a leading petroleum retailer in the UAE - wanted to increase the sales of non-petroleum products at its petrol stations. Using the backdrop of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), we designed and implemented three SMS based contests giving non-petroleum product buyers a chance to win prizes. At the moment of purchase, consumers received a coupon with a code to be sent by SMS to make them eligible to win prizes ranging from trips to jewelry. The SMS contests were highly successful attracting over 70,000 participants in each of the contests. Through these SMS campaigns, ENOC’s sales of non-petroleum products grew over above expectations and a qualified database of mobile users was created. ENOC was also able to get a more accurate profile of their loyal customers.
